Fire at Farmington Transfer Station

On Monday morning July 13th 2015 at 8:04 hours Station 47 was alerted for an Automatic Fire Alarm at the Farmington Transfer Station. Within minutes Kent Center received a call from the premise reporting an active fire in the building. The alarm was upgraded bringing a Tanker Co. from Sta. 50 (Harrington) and a Ladder Co. from Sta. 78 (Greenwood). 47-2(Asst. Chief Vincent crew of 5) went on scene to find that the bulk of the fire had been knocked down by the buildings fire suppresion system. Workers from the facility used heavy equipment to spread out the involved materials so crews could extinguish any remaining hot spots. Command returned the assisting companies and 47-2 and 47-3 remained on scene mopping up. Units responding 47-2; 47-3; 50-2; Quint 78, Ambulances 50 and 78.
