On Tuesday afternoon at 13:44 hours Kent Center dispatched Stations 47, 50 (Rescue Co.), Sussex County 78 (Tanker Co. and BLS), and KM8 to a reported working house fire on Todds Chapel Rd.  Engine 47-2, with Chief Tom Williams and a crew of 6 arrived on scene at 13:57 hours and found nothing evident from the exterior.  Upon entering the residence, the interior crew led by Captain Jon Gallo found smoke conditions on the second floor and advanced an 1 3/4" attack line to a second floor bedroom.  After knocking down the fire, the crew found that there was extension into a void space beneath the floor and began overhaul operations. Crews from Rescue 50 and Engine 50-5 were split and directed to the first floor to begin pulling the ceiling and to the second floor to assist with ventilation.  The Crew from 78-4 was sent to the attic to check for any extension.  Tanker 78 and B78 were staged. Command 47 placed the scene under control at 14:09 hours with crews remaining on scene until 14:55. Ambulance B48 was bringing half of KM8 to the scene to meet their partner and were canceled before going on scene. The State FMO is investigating the cause, and the Red Cross was notified to assist the 5 occupants.
